Welcome to Burton End Primary Academy

We are very proud of the improvements we have made as a school since becoming an academy in November 2014. We have recently embarked on the next stage of our journey as an academy by becoming part of the Samuel Ward Academy Trust and are now working closely with other academies within the trust. Our aim is to provide children with a curriculum that enthuses them and provides them with the knowledge and skills they need to be successful in today’s society.

I am delighted that the PROUD principles of being professional, resilient, optimistic, understanding and driven that Burton End pupils and staff work to exhibit, link so well with the Samuel Ward Academy Trust core values of responsibility, resilience, courage, wisdom, respect, justice, compassion, hope and integrity.

The academy grounds are extensive and include two separate playgrounds, a large sports field, a wild-life pond, a large climbing frame, fruit trees and a woodland area. The building itself consists of 14 large spacious classrooms, two halls, a dedicated computing suite, various small group teaching spaces and a well- stocked library.

We warmly invite you to come and visit us here at Burton End to see our school and meet our delightful children.

YOPEY has set up a partnership between the school and The Meadows care home in Brybank Road, Haverhill. The plan is for the pupils to visit the care home residents in mini-bus size groups as regularly as possible. The Meadows manager, Helen Selby, said The Meadows, not all of whose residents have dementia, was looking forward to the visits by the Burton End pupils as “most of our residents appear to become happier and brighter around children”.

Walking Home System Years 4-6

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your support for our new walking home system. As expected there were some minor teething issues.

If you would like your child to meet you on the bottom playground, please let the office know this. We understand this may not mean they can leave the premises but will mean they can be released by the teacher to meet you inside the school grounds.

The children's safety is paramount and the new system allows us to account for all children and their whereabouts at the end of the day. We would like to work with you on this, so any feedback as to how we could improve, will be gratefully received.

Thanks again for your co-operation.

Mrs Welch
