 School Newsletter 31st March 2017

Dear Parents and Carers

Here we are at the end of our shortest school term of the year.  Children and staff are all looking forward to a well- earned rest.  Children have worked incredibly hard this term and I am sure you are as proud of them all as I am.

Many of you attended the History event last week and it was great to see many of you entering into the fun of the afternoon with your children.  I was able to get round to all the classes and could see how much the children value you sharing in their learning.  Thank you to all of you who came along or managed to encourage grandparents and friends to support your child.

Thank you to all of you who contributed to Comic Relief last week and help raise £321.34 for such a worthy cause.

I had an extremely enjoyable day in Bury St Edmonds with the year 6 choir this Tuesday.  They were involved in performing a short opera ‘The Lighthouse Wave’ at the Apex Theatre. Four other Haverhill schools also performed their own opera and it was a truly uplifting event.  Many parents were able to attend and our children excelled themselves with their singing and acting.  It only served to highlight to me how important the Arts are to instil confidence and the enjoyment of learning in our children.  I very much hope that greater numbers of our children get to participate in such an event in the future.

Finally, I need to remind you all that Mrs Loader, my Deputy, is leaving today after almost two years of excellent service to the school.  Mrs Loader has had a significant impact on many aspects of school life, not least the improvement of literacy with the introduction of Accelerated Reading and cursive handwriting.  She has been fully involved in behaviour management and Safeguarding within the school.  Mrs Loader has developed good relationships with children and parents and I am sure many of you are grateful for the work she has done with your children.  We will all miss you Rebecca and wish you much luck in your new role as the Headteacher of Clare Primary Academy.

So in closing I would like to wish all of you a very restful and happy Easter break.  I look forward to seeing all the children back at school on Tuesday 18th April for an exciting and fun-packed Summer Term.
